Preview of the 20th Annual Condominium Conference

The CONDOCENTRIC team is looking forward to the 20th Annual CCI-T/ACMO Condominium Conference taking place on November 11 and 12, 2016 at the Toronto Congress Centre.

Patricia Elia will join Linda Hunt and Susan Ruptash on a panel moderated by Deborah Howden being presented at 11:45am on Friday, November 11th on the topic of Human Rights / Barrier-Free Accessibility. The panel will discuss the interplay between the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Marc Bhalla will be moderating the return of a dispute resolution session to the conference after a 3 year hiatus and will be joined by Shannon Salter - Chair of British Columbia’s Civil Resolution Tribunal - and colleagues Colm Brannigan and Jennifer Bell in presenting Rapid Fire Mediation: The Evolution of Conflict Management at 4:30pm on Friday, November 11th. The presentation will reflect on the past, clarify the present and look to the future of condominium dispute resolution with the anticipated injection of technology into traditional processes, as displayed with Shannon participating in the session via Skype.

In continuing with our annual tradition, here are what members of our team are looking forward to at this year's conference...

Patricia Elia
Senior Lawyer

"I am excited about “Shaping the Future” at the 20th Annual Condominium Conference in Toronto and I am looking forward to the Rapid Fire Engineering Session. Practical advice from people in the technical know."

Antoni Casalinuovo
Litigation Head

“I am looking forward to the Rapid Fire Mediation session. Conflict in a condominium community is simply inevitable and constantly evolving. Hearing the experiences of the expert panel provides a tremendous insight into the mindsets, issues and factors from all stakeholders that contribute to or resolve conflicts within a condominium community.”

Marc Bhalla
Mediator

"The Modern Family session on Saturday is one that I think will be very interesting. In my mediation practice, I often find that different backgrounds, lifestyles or belief systems give rise to conflict and very much believe that proactive and effective conflict management strategies can save everyone involved in such conflict a great deal of time, stress and expense. Also, it is difficult not to be intrigued by the session description asking “Are hipsters annoying your grandparents?”

Megan Molloy
Associate

"It’s that time of year again! This has been an exciting year for all those involved in the condominium industry. I am looking forward to hearing from our experts about the upcoming changes to the Condominium Act, and what we can expect to be faced with when those changes are eventually implemented."

Victor Yee
Associate

"I’m looking forward to meeting fellow condominium directors and fellow colleagues from different areas of Ontario’s thriving condominium industry. In getting to know each other’s concerns, interests, and goals, I hope that in coming together, we can all help “shape the future” of condominiums in the decades to come!”

Kati Aubin
Associate

“I’m looking forward to attending my first condo conference and excited to get to know everyone in the industry! I’m especially looking forward to the Directors’ Survival Kit panel so I can begin to understand the industry from the perspective of those making decisions on the ground.”
